Frequently Asked Questions about TWLS

In your search to find the right school for your child, you may find yourself with more questions than answers. TWLS is happy to address your concerns, and we want to hear from you. Please take a look at some of the more common issues we're asked about, and feel free to call or write for more information.

Q. What makes The Whole Learning School different?

A. There are many elements that set TWLS apart from other independent schools. First, we believe in teaching to the whole child by focusing on the entirety of his or her development. Rather than asking, "How smart are you?" we ask, "How are you smart?" In doing so, we provide well-rounded opportunities for success in the classroom.

But whole learning doesn't end there. We focus on the student's whole life, creating goals and teaching necessary skills for the student to thrive at school, home, and in his or her community. We integrate a whole curriculum using multiple presentation styles and learning pathways. Students gain confidence because our school environment provides an atmosphere of trust, acceptance and encouragement.

Q. Who does TWLS serve?

A. Our students have either cognitive or neurological-based learning difficulties, including but not limited to: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, Learning Disability, High Functioning Autism and Sensory Integration Disorder. These children present an intellectual and academic profile that corresponds to standard scores of 70-85 on psycho-educational assessments.

Q. How much is your yearly tuition?

A. Tuition is currently $16,000.

Q. How is TWLS staff qualified to
work with your students?

A. All lead teachers have Master's Degree in special education and at least five years of instructional experience in special education. The licensed therapists/specialists in drama, art, and music are thoroughly educated, qualified, and experienced.

All classroom teachers are Minnesota licensed in elementary education with experience and extensive training in working with special needs children.

Go to staff biographies for more complete information.
Q. Where are you located?

"I wish this school was small so that I could give it a hug."

- Hugh, TWLS student

"The Whole Learning School and their unique, individualized approach to each student has enabled our daughter to discover talents and skills she never knew she had. Finding these talents has translated into higher self-confidence and increased motivation towards math, reading, music and social skills. Most importantly, she is very proud of her accomplishments."
